She has this special spot at the top of the stairs, where she likes to go when she’s upset.
Sometimes, it is me who she’s upset with.
I tell her its okay, everyone needs time alone to cry once in a while.
She learns that emotions are okay, and how to handle them appropriately.
I learn Patience, as I give her space and wait for her to be ready to rejoin us.
When I sense the time is right, I slowly climb those stairs….
And by the time I get to the top…..
She always greets me with a smile, ready to welcome me back into her space.
Because sometimes, all it takes is a little Patience.

Awwwwww! I love the first picture revelation to the last. Your daughter is adorable. I have a special place on the stairs I go to when I am upset too 😛 So I understand.
I am grinning from ear to ear. This is wonderful! I think Alfie Kohn and Pam Leo would be very proud 🙂
Very sweet pictures. And a good lesson that, as parents, we need to treat our children as people and give them the same emotional space as we would like.
This is beautiful! I’m still trying to teach my girls that it’s okay to have space and that time out’s aren’t something to be afraid of, but it’s a work in progress. 🙂
