Marriage, Couples and Attachment Parenting

API's Eight Principles of Parenting are recommended companion readings as the foundation and context for all of our research-based resources.

Nurturing and caring for your couple relationship during the parenting years is an important goal for the wellbeing of parents and children.

Delightful new babies bring many changes for couples including sleep loss, less disposable income, new housework, childcare responsibilities, and less adult time. Take time together to learn about child development, discuss parenting choices, values and priorities and actively extend and build your parenting resources by joining parenting groups. Learning alongside and from others who are on the same journey, or who are ahead of the curve, can bring helpful and creative perspectives that benefit parenting, couple relationships and children.
