Anyone have any experience with low sperm counts? We've recently found out this has been our problem the last year we've been TTC with no luck. Our RE suggested I put DH on proxeed but its so pricey. Anyone have experience with this vitamin or any others that they've had luck with? Thanks!

#204-19-2008, 07:28 AMWe finally conceived our son after years and years of infertility treatments. Consider the age difference, he is 2 1/2 and his sister is 21.
Maca Root. It will help increase the count and motility. It is also great for you to help with your egg quality, but once you are pregnant, stop taking it.
There is a slight side effect for men. It is like taking Viagra.

There are also a variety of vitamin supplements that may assist with low sperm count.
* Vitamin C
* Vitamin E
* Vitamin B12 Selenium
* Zinc Arginine
* Carnitine
There are several dietary measures that a man who has a low sperm count can take to attempt to increase his sperm count, including:
* Eat a diet that includes whole, unprocessed foods. The best foods for health in general, and also for sperm count problems, are whole grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds.
* Eliminate alcohol intake.
* Identify and avoid food allergies.
* Raw sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds have been shown to help with male fertility. It is recommended that a man with a low sperm count eat 1/4 cup of raw sunflower or pumpkin seeds each day.
* Drink at least 48 ounces of water every day.
* When possible, try to eat organic foods. Some studies suggest a connection between chemical fertilizers and pesticides with both male and female infertility.

my DH has low sperm count, low motility and low morphology. We did two failed IUI and one failed IVF. The IUI used only one sample from DH and the count was really low, so our chances were 5 percent. I was wondering has anyones doctor recommended adding several samples of DH sperms for IUI to increase the numbers? Did it work? And, did anyones doctor recommend vitamins to DH to increase numbers? We are looking at things like Proxeed Plus to help increase DH numbers. Has anyone tried it?
Thanks,
Nadia

#512-24-2009, 03:40 PMThis is what my dr. told me: he's a natropathic dr,and not a specialist in this area, but i recently asked himOriginally posted by JellyBean View PostAnyone have any experience with low sperm counts? Selenium (55 – 100mcg/day): An antioxidant that helps protect the body from free radicals, selenium can help minimize the risk of birth defects as well as increase sperm counts in men with a low sperm count.
Maca is an herb native to the Andes mountains. In addition to helping with a low sperm count, Maca is also thought to be an aphrodisiac.
Raw sunflower seeds: 1/4 cup of raw sunflower or pumpkin seeds each day.
