    Transitioning older child to sleepin on his own

    Hello,

    I have been a single parent practicing AP for most of my sons life. We have been co sleeping for his entire 6 and a half years. I am going to help him transition to sleeping on his own, and am seeking advice on the least upsetting way to help him take this step towards his independance. He gets visibly upset when I try to discuss the idea. Any creative thoughts?

    His bed in your room would be a good start. Maybe have him express his feelings about the change through art or music. What are your reasons for initiating a change at this time. If you saw it from his perspective, what might help?
