Maybe I'll regret it one day, but I don't want the reminders of how hard I would beat myself up as a child hanging around, and that seems to be most of what my old diaries contatin. I want our son to know that he is loved unconditionally, but I am realizing that i have no clue how to do it. I was told that my parents loved me all my life - and I'm sure they do - but practicing unconditional love is very different. I actually ordered our copy of Unconditional Parenting a few days ago (which makes this post totally timely for me!) - now I'm even more excited for it to arrive! I strive to demonstrate unconditional love, but I know that I don't manage it a lot of the time. It is hard. But it is worth continuing to strive for. I hope that if I don't manage it perfectly, my kids will somehow see through my imperfection that I do love them unconditionally and just struggle with being able to show it while also surviving parenthood.
