The only comments I've gotten were these:

Grocery store, my son was in the sleepy wrap with his head leaned back to look at the ceiling (he loved this and did it by choice). A fat slob (sorry, truth) redneck on a motorized cart said "'is hayud!" (his head) followed by "'as daynjurss tew!" (that's dangerous too) when I tried to explain that he did it by choice, I had my hand close by his neck etc. Yet, no problems with the people with the baby bouncing around in the baby carrier perched precariously on top of the cart, usually with a bottle propped too.

Second: At Target, black shirt, black wrap, I had my hand under my son's neck trying to prevent him from looking at the ceiling (LOL) and a man thought I was holding my child BY HIS NECK. Ugggghhhh.

Oh and I did have one person ask me if it was a moby wrap.

Megan @ Sorta Crunchy linked me to this post and I'm so glad that she did! What really struck a chord with me was the "happy baby" comment. I cannot count the number of times that people have made that comment to me as I carried my son through some store doing daily errands...and it's true! He is a very happy baby. I never really thought too much about the fact that maybe my wearing him everywhere had something to do with that easygoing nature. Thanks for the reminder!

Thank you for this! I think each of us babywearers feel like inadvertent ambassadors at one time or another. In the part of the country in which I live, very few people babywear and I find I am the object of lots of second looks and questions, too. I've even thought of carrying business cards with babywearing info on them with me!

Anyway, thank you for this great reminder of why babywearing is both an art and a matter of survival for many of us!

I love the picture of your snuggly sling baby! I feel so blessed to be able to look down as I type this and see an almost identical sleepy face in my sling!
